Policy for Educational and Training Purposes

Last Reviewed: April 2025

1. Introduction

Devon & Cornwall Aesthetics Academy is a leading provider of training and education for medical professionals in the non-surgical aesthetics sector. As part of our educational courses, we invite patient models to participate for the following purposes:

  • Demonstration of procedures by qualified trainers.
  • Hands-on experience for delegates, under the supervision of a registered aesthetics nurse.
  • Clinical photography (e.g., before-and-after images) for marketing and educational purposes.

2. Initial Model Selection

Upon registering as a patient model, we collect information for assessment and storage in our secure database. This pre-screening process may be conducted via email, phone, or messaging platforms and includes:

  • Basic medical history and contraindications (e.g., pregnancy or breastfeeding).
  • Details of previous cosmetic procedures and any adverse reactions.
  • Evaluation of patient expectations.

Models must submit recent photographs (less than two weeks old) without any aesthetic or surgical alterations post-capture. Follow-up photos may also be required.

For treatments involving Botulinum Toxin A (e.g., Botox, Azzalure), a consultation with a Nurse Prescriber is mandatory prior to approval.

Devon & Cornwall Aesthetics Academy reserves the right to decline or cancel appointments under the following circumstances:

  • Refusal or failure to submit required photographs.
  • Insufficient quality of images for clinical assessment.
  • Presence of contraindications or clinical concerns.

In such cases, deposits will be refunded in full.

3. Follow-Up Appointments

Patient models may be requested to provide follow-up photos. Failure to comply may result in exclusion from future modelling opportunities.

Where necessary, follow-up appointments are offered at no additional charge, though further treatment may incur a fee. Follow-ups must occur within one month of treatment (or within three weeks for anti-wrinkle injections), unless otherwise indicated by our clinical team.

Models understand that treatments are performed by trainees. While the desired outcome is discussed prior to treatment, results may vary. Any further treatments required to address aesthetic concerns from training sessions will incur an additional fee.

Training-level dosages are used for safety purposes, which may not achieve optimal aesthetic outcomes. Supplementary treatment within specified timeframes may be offered at a cost of £25, subject to clinical discretion.

4. Multiple Bookings

Patient models may book multiple procedures on the same training day, provided there are no medical contraindications.

Each distinct procedure with a defined clinical goal will require a separate appointment and deposit.

Example: Treatment of three upper-face areas with Botulinum Toxin is considered one procedure as it targets a single clinical outcome.

5. Appointment Deposits

A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is required for all bookings.

  • Failure to attend an appointment will result in loss of the deposit.
  • If late, please contact us immediately.
  • A 15-minute grace period is allowed, after which the appointment may be cancelled and the deposit forfeited.

6. Treatment Policy

Models attend appointments for training purposes only and will be treated by trainees under professional supervision.

Models may not request treatment by a specific trainer. Treatment provider decisions rest solely with the supervising team.

Devon & Cornwall Aesthetics Academy reserves the right to cancel treatments on the day due to health concerns. In these cases, deposits may be transferred to a future appointment but will not be refunded.

To ensure a professional environment, we kindly ask that models do not bring children or more than one accompanying person.

7. Appointment Times & Course Structure

Due to varying course structures, appointment times cannot be confirmed at the time of booking. Please ensure availability between 11:00 AM and 5:30 PM on the treatment day.

A fixed time slot will be issued one week prior to your appointment. We ask models to arrive up to 15 minutes early and allow up to two hours in case of delays.

8. Complications & Adverse Reactions

As with any medical procedure, complications and adverse reactions are possible. All delegates are qualified medical professionals registered with statutory regulatory bodies.

Potential side effects will be discussed prior to treatment. For post-treatment concerns:

  • Call: 07367 207927

All trainers are fully trained in emergency protocols and the administration of Hyaluronidase.

9. Payment Terms

  • A £60 deposit is required at the time of booking.
  • The remaining balance must be paid 48 hours before the appointment, unless otherwise stated.
  • Payments can be made via BACS or cash.

10. Complaints Procedure

We value feedback and aim to turn negative experiences into improvements.
